About the project
This is a software to design textiles, from drawings up to the coding for the production with the circular machine Lonati. This all-in-one solution is a powerful tool to help textile designers make their creations intuitively, providing the tools to design, define the various parts of the product, and select and calibrate the types of yarn. Once the project is defined, the software automatically checks the file and compiles the code to give instructions to the machine for final production.
This project was challenging, as the textile sector is a complex discipline, and this industry is technologically advanced. Fully understanding how these machines operate was the first step to being able to identify solutions that could lead to more usable software for the users. At the end, the satisfaction of the Customer and of me was prized: the textile designers appreciated the new opportunity of being able to realize their projects and ideas. This not only gains the quality of the output, but also improves consistency and the timing from design to production.
One of the innovations I introduced to the software is a scheme that helps to understand not only the yarn layout, but also the diverse functions of the yarn guides. This kind of infographic has a wide and valuable impact on all the workers, as everyone can perform the job in a better way when it's clearer how the machinery works.
