DataMED

Blood analysis monitor during extracorporeal circulation surgrey (ECMO)

About the project

Accurate and continuous monitoring of a patient's condition is essential during surgical procedures. DataMED is introducing a new integrated system for measuring and analyzing blood parameters during extra-corporeal circulation (ECMO). I was responsible for the UX/UI design of this device, which was developed to support Perfusionist in maintaining control over critical parameters throughout these complex and delicate procedures.
The UI is a mosaic of boxes, each box is a parameter to be kept under control during the surgical operation. Values are displayed in two ways: with numbers, for a more precise view, or with a graph, to visualize the trend of the parameters before and after the oxygenator in a glance. In each moment Perfusionist can switch from a view to the other to adapt the UI to the specific needs. When plugged into the monitor, each sensor is automatically classified by the system. The color palette correlates the parameter to the sensor, thus helping the user to identify the sensor location and any problems.
